Privacy policy
Overview
Seshat Media (“the app”) is a client for Seshat, a media server that you run yourself. This policy tells you which data the app uses and where that data goes.
We collect no data. The developer of the app does not collect, receive, store or sell data about you. The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking. It does not use a service that the developer operates.
The app talks only to your server
The app connects to the server address that you type in. That server belongs to you or to your household, not to the developer. The app sends to it your account PIN, your profile choice, and what you play and read, with your playback and reading positions, highlights and bookmarks. The person who runs that server controls that data. If your server is behind Cloudflare Access, the app also opens the Cloudflare Access sign-in page for your server, and Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies to that sign-in.
Data on your iPhone
- Your sign-in token is in the iOS Keychain. If your server is behind Cloudflare Access, the Access session cookie is in the Keychain too.
- The Cloudflare Access sign-in page keeps its own cookies in the app’s web storage on the iPhone.
- Your server addresses and app settings are in the app’s own settings storage (UserDefaults).
- Ebook files and media that you keep on the iPhone are in the app’s own storage.
- Face ID, if you turn on the app lock, is done by iOS. The app never gets your face data.
All of this stays on your iPhone. Delete the app to delete it.
Local network
At home, the app connects to your server on your local network. iOS asks for your permission first. The app does not scan your network for other devices.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be at this address with a new effective date.
